New AI Accelerator ‘Alsessor’ is a tech start-up hotbed kicking off in January 2021

€250,000 seed funding is the potential prize for one of the ten successful Alsessor participants as part of an exciting new AI accelerator programme recently launched by Altada, Tangent Trinity’s Ideas Workspace and Trinity College Dublin. Applications are accepted until December 18th from early-stage startups and entrepreneurs worldwide who want to grow and commercialise their businesses.

Stijn Christiaens, Co-founder & CTO of Collibra and Prof Linda Hogan, Professor of Ecumenics at Trinity College Dublin will join Altada co-founders Allan Beechinor and Niamh Parker on the Alsessor mentor panel. Collibra is an innovative Data Intelligence software vendor which was originally a spin-out from Vrije Universiteit in Brussels, Belgium and today it works with some 450 enterprises and other large organisations. AI ethics are fundamental to nascent startups, to have the Professor of Ecumenics from Trinity College Dublin join the Alsessor ranks is a significant benefit for Alsessor participants.

Alsessor is suitable for AI start-ups working in Retail, Digital Health, FinTech, InsurTech, Regulatory, and Compliance sectors. The accelerator environment provides great benefits for entrepreneurs and innovators, offering exposure to domain expertise, mentorship, masterclasses and workshops. Once a business completes the Accelerator, they will have improved, refined and perfected elements of their business model, secured their intellectual property, defined the funding strategy, commercially exploited the solutions they have developed and built a strong peer and industry network. Alsessor is now inviting applications for the program which will run for a consecutive five months starting in January 2021, with at least 18 face to face gatherings by way of organised workshops and events. Stan leads Collibra’s Data Office and is responsible for overall data strategy, data infrastructure and translating internal learnings into value for our customers and partners. He is also Collibra’s product evangelist and drives future innovation. Previously, Stan launched various departments within Collibra including Product, Presales, Postsales, Partnerships, Marketplace, and Research and Education. Prior to co-founding Collibra, he was a senior researcher at the ‘Vrije Universiteit Brussel’, where he focused on application-oriented research in semantics. Stan holds a Master of Science degree in Information Technology, a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and a Postgraduate in Industrial Corporate Governance from Europese Hogeschool Brussel. Prof. Linda Hogan
Professor of Ecumenics
Trinity College Dublin

Linda Hogan is an ethicist and scholar of religion with extensive experience of research and teaching in pluralist and multi-religious contexts. Her primary research interests lie in the fields of religion and politics, inter-cultural and inter-religious ethics, social and political ethics, human rights and gender.
In addition to her academic expertise, Linda as expert knowledge of institutional management and governance, having spent 5 years as the Vice-Provost/Chief Academic Officer and Deputy President at Trinity College Dublin. In that role she had overall responsibility for education and research at the university. She coordinated strategic planning, and had responsibility for the direction and quality of research, undergraduate and postgraduate education and the student experience.
Linda has held posts at Trinity College Dublin, University of Chester and at the University of Leeds, where she was a founding member and Deputy Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies. She was also an active member of the university’s Centre for Business Ethics.
She is the founding Director of Trinity EthicsLab and Convenor of the Trinity Ethics Initiative. She is Chair of the Governing Body of the Marino Institute of Education and has served on a number of Boards of public and private organisations, including the Irish Council for Bioethics, the Laudato ‘Si Institute, University of Oxford, the Board of the Coombe Women and Infants University Hospital, the Central Applications Office (CAO) Board, and Science Gallery Dublin. She has worked on a consultancy basis for a number of national and international organisations, focusing on developing ethical infrastructures.
